# Tariff lookup

> Estimate US import tariff for a specific MPN by country of origin (Beta)

**Tariff Lookup (Beta)** estimates US import duty for a specific MPN by country of origin—useful when trade policy and origin choice affect cost and compliance.

## Why it matters

Electronics have many part numbers, ambiguous HTS classifications, and layered surcharges. Getting the estimate wrong affects sourcing and cost models.

## How to use

1. On the homepage, choose **Tariff lookup** (or ask in chat: *Check tariff for \<MPN> made in China entering the US*)
2. Select **country of origin** (or compare common origins / skip for base rate only)
3. Review the breakdown: HTS classification (with confidence), base rate, applicable surcharges (e.g. Section 301), and **estimated total**
